Realtime character faces
A downloadable Project
I really love making faces for characters, I normally start a sculpt by making a face, and I'll normally start a retop there too, so the face is generally the first part of a project to make it to engine, so over time I've started cutting out the rest of the character, and focussing the majority of my efforts towards learning facial anatomy and texturing for PBR games. Because of this, all my renders are taken from within UE4, with some using edited versions of the UE4 Digital Human skin shader, with all my custom maps, and a custom SSS Profile. Below I'll cover a little more about each of the heads as they appear in order, and add more images.
1.) Envy
This was one of the projects where I sculpted a full character, based on a pre-existing concept, but the character was wearing a mask, and I wanted to have the option to remove the mask in the idle animation, so I tried to focus on making her look like she'd been in fights, with some old and some newer scars across her face.
2.) Mayan Warpriest
Originally was going to be part of a much bigger project, but I was concepting the character myself, and the armour details felt too weak to work with in full, so in the end I deleted the body and armour and stuck with just the head on its own
3.) Lucy-
For this project, I used a Sculpt from the Artstation Marketplace, by artist Niyazi Selimoglu, the Sculpt can be found here: https://www.artstation.com/marketplace/p/azKD/lucy . I then retopped the sculpt, baked it down, and created texture maps.
4.) Ringleader
For this character, I tried to replicate the style of the Dishonored Franchise, to make a crazed ringleader type character, with the same iconic hairstyle and mustache that would be recognizable. I made a full character for this project, but the focus was mostly on the face.
